“It Began as a Landscape”:

An Improvised, Interactive Art, Movement and Sound Event

Roll Up! Roll Up!

Travelling all the way from Ivanhoe, the remarkable Jess Lovell, and our much-loved local Fiona Haasz, are coming together once again, by popular demand, in this inaugural, unique, first time launch of their new debut improvised, participatory art, sound, movement work.

What can you expect? You might think you’re just eating dinner, but then low and behold an invitation to make a mark or write a word may be “served” to your table, as a light snack, which you may or may not choose to nibble at.

We are not here to make a masterpiece, we are here to master the bringing together of “pieces” which are present in the space, to form a “whole” (a painting or two) and allow you to be a part of “the making”, the process of responding to offerings between artists and guests that speaks to the liminal space between.

Jess and Fe are both qualified and experienced artists and art therapists. Jess is also a singer and songwriter and Fiona uses ‘Soul Song’ during her Tao Hands Blessings… Their task, for this event, will be to ‘feel into’ each moment and use their skills, to connect to each other, the paintings, the guests and the space, in an improvised, light and playful way.

Previously, Jess and Fe have collaborated over the past decade, on many projects including a making art with children in schools and with Syrian refugees, co-creating an art installation and curatorial event “Home Truths”, a New York trip inspired postcard project and “Vulva Project” exhibition as well as co-creating paintings and murals adorning people’s homes.

Jess and Fe are particularly delighted to be bringing this experience to Nature Café as a way of giving back to the place that has been a beacon of courage, a refuge for many and an inspiration for some, during a time when we almost lost sight of who we were as autonomous beings.

Note: Two large paintings will be created during the event, and auctioned off at the end, with proceeds going towards Project Fresh Start, providing vegan meals for those in need.
